Ethernet (IEEE-802.x, начало разработки1980 г.):
- протокол L2;
- объединяет peer’ы;
- уникальный адрес каждого peer’а;
- связи: peer-peer, peer-hub, hub-hub.
Адреса: MAC (Media Access Control), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). Сейчас – MAC-48.
Есть также EUI (Extended Unique Identifier): EUI-48, EUI-64.
